  BIM - Trichy

1. What is the eligibility criterion for admissions to the PGDBM course of BIM at Bangalore?

Any person with a Bachelor's or Post Graduate Degree or its equivalent (approved by Association of Indian Universities) in any discipline can apply. Even those who are in the final year and waiting for results can apply.

2. What are the admissions and selection processes?

The admissions process encompasses:
a) Personal Interview
b) Group Discussion
c) Test (Aptitude/Attitude)

Candidates who have a valid CAT/XAT/MAT score will be exempted from the third component of the selection process.

Our admission process is unique. In most of the B-Schools the eligible candidates are expected to take an admission test and based on the scores, the candidates are short listed for the second stage of admission process namely Group Discussions and Personal Interview, etc. From our experience we feel that the admission test is more an elimination process rather than a selection process and in regular admission tests numerical skills, analytical skills, logical skills and verbal ability skills are tested. From the industry point of view we have observed during the placement season of BIM that most of the campus recruiters administer psychometric tests which measure the attitude of the individual rather than the academic performance in the programme. We would like to adopt the same procedure to measure the attitude of the individual first - his ability to learn fast, the burning desire to develop the competencies rather than cram the information in the form of theories. We try to identify the areas of expertise of the candidate and his ability to fit in the managerial career and to discourage candidates who have the potential to develop in areas other than management. In short, our admission process will almost be similar to the recruitment process of corporates.

The selection process will also make sure that the candidates admitted to the programme will be fast learners who will be able to cope up with the demands of the programme. The entire programme is an unique product and should not be compared with any of the existing products offered in the market. We urge you to be a part of this unique course in management education.

We are also very clear that BIM is not an employment exchange focusing only on placement activities right from day one. It is pertinent to mention that BIM has an enviable placement record for 23 years merely because of our philosophy. Top notch companies will be visiting the campus for placements. It is relevant to mention here that the entire batch of students who graduated in October 2007 was placed. Placement assistance will always be provided to all the students but it is up to the students to develop their skills and competencies during their stay at the Bangalore campus to convert these opportunities into offers. With our unique selection process, innovative delivery systems, constant monitoring, mentoring and grooming of our students the placement should be good as usual.
